This Presentation of Christ in the Temple is based on the same subject painted by Veronese on the organ wings in the church of San Sebastiano in Venice. The scene contains some anachronisms, such as Saint Simeon who, with the exception of his headgear, is wearing the insignia of a Catholic bishop. Note that the cope and crosier are almost identical to those of the bishop we see in inv. 141. Scholars suggest that this can be dated to around 1754.
