After four years of intense work, the restoration of the Preliminary Carton of the School of Athens by Raffaello Sanzio comes to an end.
The restoration project, directed and coordinated by Maurizio Michelozzi, and the new design of the hall by Stefano Boeri, will be presented to the city and the international public on March 27 2019, with the inauguration of the great event “Il Raffaello dell’Ambrosiana. In principio il Cartone”.
The operation confirms the presence of the work and the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana itself within an “ideal” tour of Renaissance Milan.
Fondazione Fiera Milano, official partner of the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana for the two-year period 2018-2019, will contribute to supporting the promotional activities of the Raphael Cartoon as well as the Ambrosiana’s intitatives for the 5th centenary of the death Leonardo da Vinci.
The restoration work was entirely supported by the contribution of RaMo SpA, by the will of the Founder Giuseppe Rabolini.
The Cartoon exhibition will be accompanied by a bilingual Italian / English publication (Electa publisher) with texts by Alberto Rocca, Director of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana.
