This sumptuous ceremonial saddle, complete with its two stirrups, bears chased images of the first and last episodes of the war of Troy: the rape of Helen and the famous wooden horse of Troy, with the burning of the city. The two stirrups are also decorated with male and female figures. These artefacts are examples of the art of armoury for high-ranking patrons as it developed in Milan during the second half of the sixteenth century.
