ART IN RESPECT
A DIALOGUE

From May 15 to 27, the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan hosts Art in Respect – A dialogue, a solo exhibition by artist and couturier Filippo Sorcinelli. An exhibition that is also a multisensorial and spiritual journey, where fashion, painting and perfumes blend together in a profound dialogue with the works of Museum’s collections, from Leonardo da Vinci, to Raphael, to Caravaggio.

Filippo Sorcinelli is an artist in the etymological sense of the term, that is, a master of art who, for over twenty years has proposed a new concept of beauty, a contamination between the arts and a lifestyle that embraces different aspects of contemporaneity: a journey cultivated by pursuing in synergy his passions for music, art, fashion and perfumery.

In 2001 Filippo Sorcinelli began his adventure with the atelier of sacred vestments LAVS – Liturgical Atelier of Sacred Vestments – and in 2013 he founded a house of art perfumes now known throughout the world.

The exhibition Art in Respect – a dialogue at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan is not a retrospective of Filippo Sorcinelli’s work, but represents a moment of introspection, with the desire to give value to his journey so far and at the same time look to the future, evolving, changing skin, but remaining deeply and intimately himself.

The exhibition, as suggested by the title, intends to explore the concept of respect as an ethical, spiritual and aesthetic tension, in a continuous exchange between past and present, between sacred and human. And this is how you can admire the sartorial creations of the LAVS atelier – Liturgical Atelier of Sacred Vestments – together with some pictorial works by Sorcinelli, accompanied by an olfactory itinerary that enriches and completes the perceptive experience, making the material vibrate with the breath of the invisible.

Some exceptional pieces stand out among the works on display: objects that belonged to Pope Benedict XVI and the sumptuous cope created for the Veneration of the Crown of Thorns in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, tangible testimonies of an art that is not only beauty, but also gesture, liturgy and living memory.

“Art in Respect” is an invitation to stop, listen and perceive. It is an exhibition that places the visitor at the center of an intimate and silent dialogue with the soul, history, art. An ideal conversation between Filippo Sorcinelli and the timeless masterpieces preserved at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana.
