JOURNEY IN THE RENAISSANCE

The visit analyses the School of Athens, Raphael’s masterpiece, also taking in consideration other Renaissance masterpieces of the Ambrosiana’s collections: from the sweet works of Bernardino Luini, to the monumentality of Bergognone and Bramantino, up to Zenale’s tables and Botticelli’s Madonna, visitors will understand how Raphael managed to condense the thought of an entire era, celebrating the centrality of knowledge.
The big cartoon is a sort of “manifesto” of Renaissance thought and it will be compared to the fresco painted by Raphael in the Stanza della Segnatura, to highlight the link between the classical world and Christianity.
