AUTOGRAPH WRITINGS BY FAMOUS WOMEN FROM THE AMBROSIANA COLLECTIONS

EXTENDED UNTIL OCTOBER 31

The exhibition, set up in rooms 2 and 3 for the edition of Museocity / Museosegreto, dedicated this year to female creativity – but never so far open – offers a series of documents of women who have distinguished themselves, each in their field of investigation.

You will find, for example, typescripts and autograph material of the Milanese poet Alda Merini (1931-2009), autograph sheets by Gaetana Agnesi (Milan, 1718-1799) one of the most important mathematicians of all time, first woman author of a book of mathematics and first to obtain a university chair of mathematics at the University of Bologna. These are flanked by the case with the hair of Lucrezia Borgia (1480-1519) and part of the correspondence between the same and the Venetian humanist Pietro Bembo, in addition to the letters of the Monza nun to Federico Borromeo.
