DON FERRANTE’S BOOKS IN THE BIBLIOTECA AMBROSIANA

Until October 10, 2023, on the occasion of the Alessandro Manzoni year, the Pinacoteca will showcase an exhibition that aims at reconstructing, as far as possible with volumes from the Ambrosiana collections, the “considerable collection of books, just under three hundred volumes ” belonging to Don Ferrante, which Alessandro Manzoni describes in the Promessi Sposi (The Bethroted).

The exhibition, set up in the cases of Rooms 2 and 3 of the Pinacoteca, consists of seven sections, ranging from astrology to philosophy with Alchabizio and Aristotle, to history and politics with Machiavelli, up to chivalric science.
