Ambrosiana

THE MIDDLE AGES IN MANUSCRIPT BOOKS

The curators of the exhibition offer visitors an itinerary through the manuscripts of the Biblioteca Ambrosiana that exemplifies various aspects of medieval Latin, Greek and vernacular culture.

The volumes selected deal with natural sciences, philosophy, medicine, music, the role of women, some episodes of mediaeval culture in Milan, geography, along with Dante, ending with a section dedicated to the Byzantine millennium.
Visitors will therefore admire some of the most known and some lesser-known treasures from the book mine established by Federico Borromeo for the benefit of the community.
