THE CRYPT OF SAN SEPOLCRO AND SAINT CHARLES BORROMEO

After telling us about Leonardo’s connection with the Crypt of San Sepolcro, today Monsignor Ballarini explains how this place was particularly important for San Carlo Borromeo, who used to gather here in prayer.
Previously, you mentioned the sepulcher with the insignia of Jerusalem and the image of St. Charles Borromeo –
Clearly, they are two items born in very different ages; the sepulcher was placed here since the beginning while the statue of St. Charles was placed after his canonization, or maybe even beatification, just in memory of the long time St. Charles spent, in meditation and contemplation, in front of this Sepulcher, thinking of the Christ’s passion.
