Moleskine Detour – Joana Vasconcelos

MOLESKINE DETOUR

From April 15, on the occasion of Design Week, the rooms of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana will host “Moleskine Detour”, an international exhibition promoted by Moleskine and the Moleskine Foundation. Created in 2006, Detour is much more than a simple art exhibition: it is an experience that transports the visitor to the heart of the creative process, from the artist’s mind to the page of the notebook.

It is a project dedicated to culture and shared creativity and offers a broad view of human creativity through notebooks that were decorated, hacked, transformed into sculptures or graphic novels, filled with notes, sketches, paintings and drawings.
The exhibition – shown at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana on the occasion of MDW 2024 – has already conquered cities such as Shanghai, Paris, New York and London. Over a hundred unique works by artists from all over the world will be on display in Milan, helping to raise awareness of creativity as a tool for social change and to spread the culture of sharing and giving.
Among the selected artists are Giorgia Lupi, Antonio Marras, Pascale Marthine Tayou and Joana Vasconcelos. During the exhibition, visitors will be able to leaf through some of the notebooks on display in rooms 1, 4 and the Cardboard Room, only by wearing the white gloves that are available in a plinth at the entrance to the exhibition.
The choice of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana to host this exhibition is not random: a historic Milanese location, a treasure trove of art and culture, it offers a perfect backdrop for exploring the diversity of creative thought in depth, by ideally relating it to the most precious works in the Pinacoteca: Leonardo da Vinci’s Codex Atlanticus and Raphael’s Cartoon for the School of Athens, exceptional testimonies to the power of hand-drawn ideas, whether drawings or writings.

“Detour is a celebration of diversity and human creativity,” says Daniela Riccardi, CEO of Moleskine. “Each notebook tells a unique story, reflecting the background and vision of the artist who created it. We are thrilled to bring this extraordinary exhibition We are thrilled to bring this extraordinary exhibition to Milan, a city that perfectly embodies the spirit of innovation and creativity.”
