Ambrosiana

Giacomo Filippo Opicelli, Memorie della Biblioteca Ambrosiana

Latinist Massimo Rivoltella has devoted his studies to translating a fundamental work for the history of the Ambrosiana itself, which will be presented on February 12, 2019.

It is a seventeenth-century work hitherto never translated from Latin, an important source of information for both historians and scholars of the heritage of the Library: the Monumenta Bibliothecae Ambrosianae by Giacomo Filippo Opicelli, published in 1618. From this work of translation also arise new reflections on the use of Latin during the seventeenth century in Milan.
